Vintage Maruhachi dahlia sprayer, No. A-211, pink Bakelite, tested, less nozzle

Dahlia sprayers from Japan's Maruhachi Industry Co. are prized by gardeners, museum conservators and artists for the fine mist they produce and for their exquisite, chrome-over-brass construction.
This No. A-211 sprayer is equipped with the less common – and quite striking – pink Bakelite knob and base. Most often, these parts were black.
It is in excellent condition for its vintage, with a few scuffs and scratches on its cup and some surface corrosion/discoloration on the internal pump cylinder. (Please review photos to verify condition).
We found that working the plunger slowly will build good pressure, which can be released via the senstive, spring-loaded trigger. Note that the sprayer is missing the atomizer/nozzle tip that creates a dripless mist. It operates fine as a watering device, and will look great as a display piece.
The sprayer is about 8 inches or 20 cm high (plunger inserted) and 6 inches (15 cm) wide. It weighs about 1 pound (454 g).
