    Description

ANTIQUE 4 ROOM DUNHAM COCOANUT DOLLHOUSE is not only very hard to come by, when you do they are usually pretty well beat and it's VERY rare that the lithos are as in nice shape as this one! Compared to most of the few remaining houses out there, this is a great find for a true collector.
Much sought after by collectors, these houses were originally used to ship and display shredded Cocoanut for retail. After the products sold, grocers would then hold a lottery to award the prized wooden house to some lucky household! This elaborately lithographed dollhouse was made circa 1890-1898. I read that it has been suggested that the same company that printed Bliss houses' lithography papers also printed the Dunham houses.
It is clearly marked "Dunham's Cocoanut House" on both ends.  It still has remnants of its original packing label with instructions on the back BUT it is barely (if at all) legible, and does have Sharpie on both that back label as well as down lower on the back.  The outer sides with printed bricks are still in excellent shape.
On the inside the full color, detailed lithos covering the walls and floors are all intact in bright, full color, little to no fading, very few rips, and minimal staining (mostly on first floor walls.)  All the details right down to the pictured furniture, plants, accessories, windows and curtains are amazing and in very good shape!

    😝
My deceased mother - a dollhouse collector - did funny things in her advanced years, and she glued figurines and furniture to the floors and walls of her houses... (in addition to writing her initials in Sharpie.) On the plus side, they are Occupied Japan figurines and if you can get them up you can make back some of your money selling them! 😂  Also, they are glued down with with glue that is water soluble - BUT these are paper litho floors, so... I don't know of any way of getting them off without further damaging the beautiful floors. (If you examine the pics closely you can see damaged spots on the lithographed floors where some figurines were loose or already detached.)  So the house will be coming to you with the glued in figures intact and lots of bubble wrap!  I will even include the loose figures that were laying in the house so you can just cover up the spots if you so choose.
Also the wallpaper down the back wall inside of the house is split along the seam of the length of the two boards constructing the back, which it seems is almost always the case with these.

I will ship via FedEx in a large custom box and pad it very well and make sure it is fully insured - unless you would prefer local pick up - I am willing to meet almost anywhere in New England / eastern New York.
This belonged to a collector who recently passed away and unfortunately stopped properly caring for her beloved toys and dolls in recent years as dementia set in. Many of her belongings, including this one, have Sharpie initials on it. Please see pics closely for details, and let me know if you need more! I am sure the right collector will give it a good home once again!  I try to accurately describe all flaws. If you purchase and find I have omitted something important from the details that I was unaware of, please let me know!  I will ship via FedEx from a smoke-free home and will cover the cost of any additional insurance, signature required, etc. as needed. Thanks for looking!
