    Description

This is just so cute, and in an easy to display small cabinet size! Here we have an antique German wooden dollhouse room box with two tiny dolls and a miniature plush bear! Measuring 11 1/2” wide by 5” deep and 3 7/8” high, I believe this sweet set is in the 1:24th scale. Made all of wood, the diorama features two rooms, one that includes and a kitchen with dining area, and the other a bedroom with a rocking cradle in it. All the furnishings are glued down except for some of the hand made stuffed fabric pillows. The cottage style rooms are decorated with a German or Scandinavian design motif, much like the work put out by Dora Kuhn. I love the painted trunk in the dining area, and the large warming oven in the corner of the kitchen. Above the trunk hangs a tiny cuckoo clock with swinging pendulum—I’m not sure you can see the darling face of it in my pictures. There are three window cutouts, each with cloth curtains. Note the calendar that hangs on the wall of the kitchen dated 1947–very likely the particular vintage of this piece!
This wonderful plaything comes with two tiny dolls that are just the right size at about 2 1/2” each. They are made with wooden bead heads and the rest of the pair are constructed all of leather! I’m pretty sure these represent Polish dolls. Each has a little hanging string for use as a Christmas ornament. The tiny plush bear is 1 1/2” long and all hand made, with a silk bow around his neck, and hand painted facial features.
Condition is generally very good, with some shelf dust present. The only damage I see is the post framing the left side of the room box is chipped at the top, making it a little shorter than the other two posts.
